emmanuel
Emmanuel had worked over the years on different construction sites, picking up some skills along the way. Unfortunately, he then became homeless and spent over a year in a nightshelter. This seriously knocked his confidence and he had to gradually piece things back together, volunteering with charities.
With the help of PHASES, Emmanuel was able to plan a career path in construction. He initially completed one of our 13 week workshop courses, brushing up and adding to the skills he’d previously developed. From there he moved on to paid work on our empty homes renovation projects, working on flats in Rotherhithe and Peckham.Today, Emmanuel works as a general building contractor, having passed his driving test before buying a van for his tools, which he has built up over time. He still keeps in touch with us, six years down the line, and he carries out maintenance work on some of our flats from time to time.
