Christian creates extraordinary lamps from everyday objects — each one bursting with wit, creativity and character. His inventive designs have been made possible thanks to the support he receives from Emmaus West Sussex.
Emmaus is a homelessness charity built on belonging, purpose and second chances. It offers a stable home, meaningful work, and ongoing support to people who’ve experienced homelessness. Companions live and work together in a supportive environment, contributing to the running of the community through social enterprises such as charity shops and cafés. This not only generates vital income, but also helps individuals regain confidence, learn new skills and reconnect with others.
Among the everyday items donated to Emmaus, Christian saw potential. Inspired by what others might overlook, he began crafting his remarkable lamps from old telephones, musical instruments and other found treasures — transforming them into unique statement pieces. His work featured at our Makers Market, where it caught the eye of many and earned praise for its originality and craftsmanship.
Christian’s journey is a shining example of the power of connection, creativity, and community. It reflects Emmaus’s belief in solidarity, dignity and the transformative impact of purpose shared.
